I. Objectives:

At the end of the lesson, the learners should be able to:

A. Reviewing previous lesson or presenting the new lesson:

  • Ask students to recall the message conveyed in a previous performance and how it was conveyed to the audience.

B. Establishing a purpose for the lesson:

  • Explain to students the importance of understanding how the elements delivered in a performance of an original play can affect the overall message and impact on the audience.

C. Presenting illustrative examples/instances of the lesson:

  • Show a video clip of a theatrical production that effectively uses theatrical elements to convey a message to the audience.

D. Discussing new concepts and practicing new skills #1:

  • Divide students into groups and assign each group a role in a stage production (e.g., actor, director, choreographer, light designer, stage manager).
  • Ask each group to identify the function and responsibilities of their assigned role and write it on a sheet of paper.
  • Have each group present their findings to the class.

E. Discussing new concepts and new skills #2:

  • Play the game "Pass the Paper."
  • Each group will pass their paper to the next group, and the receiving group will add a new piece of information related to the assigned role.
  • Continue until each group has their original paper back.

F. Developing mastery (guides formative assessment):

  • Conduct a team quiz where students identify the role of production described in every statement.
  • Students will post their answers on the board using strips of paper.

G. Making generalizations and abstractions about the lesson:

  • Ask students to identify the roles in a stage production and explain their importance.

H. Finding practical applications of concepts and skills in daily living:

  • Ask students to identify values that are key contributors to a successful performance in relation to the roles in a play and explain their importance.

I. Evaluation of Learning:

  • Ask students to identify the roles in a stage production described in the following item.

J. Additional activities for application or remediation:

  • Have students create a skit that incorporates theatrical elements and production roles they learned in the lesson.
