IV. Procedures:

A. Reviewing previous lesson or presenting the new lesson:

  • Ask the students about how theater and opera houses evolved.

B. Establishing a purpose for the lesson:

  • Watch the video of the Beauty and the Beast theater play and ask the students what the video is trying to portray.

C. Presenting illustrative examples/instances of the lesson:

  • Show the students clips of Oedipus Rex and Antigone and ask them what they can say about these plays.

D. Discussing new concepts and practicing new skills #1:

  • Define the theatrical elements of Greek plays and opera.

E. Discussing new concepts and new skills #2:

  • Provide examples of Greek plays and opera.

F. Developing mastery (guides formative assessment):

  • Discuss the characteristics of the following elements:
  1. Gestures and movements
  2. Music
  3. Staging

G. Making generalizations and abstractions about the lesson:

  • Sum up the concepts discussed in the session.

  • Discuss how these Greek classical plays influenced Filipino plays and ask students for their appreciation of the Greek plays and opera.
